Types of Scholarships and Benefits
1. UEF Scholarship
- Coverage: 100% tuition fee waiver.
- Duration: Covers the entire study period (3 years for a Bachelor’s degree, 2 years for a Master’s degree).
2. UEF Tuition Waiver
UEF provides partial tuition waivers of either 30% or 50% of the total tuition fees.

- Available for all other international Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs.
- Only a limited number of students are granted this waiver.
3. Finnish Proficiency Tuition Waivers
UEF encourages students to learn Finnish by offering tuition discounts based on proficiency:
- 100% Tuition Waiver: Given to students who achieve “Intermediate Level 3 or 4” in the YKI Finnish Language Test.
- 50% Tuition Waiver: Awarded to students who complete UEF’s Finnish 3 course.
4. Humanitarian Scholarship (For Temporary Protection Holders)
- Coverage: 100% tuition fee waiver.
- Refund Policy: If a student pays tuition fees but later receives temporary protection status, the fee will be refunded.
Who Can Apply? (Eligible Nationalities)
These scholarships are open to international students of all nationalities.
Eligibility Criteria
International students from outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland must pay tuition fees unless they meet one of the following exemption criteria:
- Hold a permanent residence permit (P) or continuous residence permit (A) in Finland (study-related permits do not qualify).
- Have an EU Blue Card or a residence card as a family member of an EU citizen.
- Possess a Brexit residence permit card under the withdrawal agreement.
- Hold a residence permit for temporary protection in Finland.
Important:
To qualify for an exemption, students must provide valid proof of their residence permit at the beginning of the academic year (August 1, 2025).

Tuition Fees for International Students
International students from outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland must pay tuition fees for their Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs at UEF.
- Annual Tuition Fee: €10,000 per academic year.
- Total Fees:
- Bachelor’s Degree: €30,000 for the full 3-year program.
- Master’s Degree: €20,000 for the full 2-year program.
Payment Deadlines & Discounts
- Final Payment Deadline: August 31, 2025.
- Payment Installments: Students can pay the fee in one or two installments.
- Early Bird Discount: Students who accept their study place and pay via Flywire by June 11, 2025, receive a one-time €500 deduction.
