The Türkiye Scholarships (Turkey Scholarships) program is a government-funded initiative launched by the Government of Turkey in 2012. This prestigious scholarship aims to support international students, including those from Afghanistan, in developing their educational and professional skills. By fostering global talent, the program contributes to strengthening international relations and cultural exchange.
Türkiye Scholarships offer opportunities for both long-term (degree-level education) and short-term programs at some of Turkey’s most renowned universities. Currently, over 100,000 students from 162+ countries are pursuing their studies in Turkey through fully funded scholarships. Remarkably, more than 100,000 students have already graduated from Turkish universities under this program. Annually, around 5,000 scholarships are awarded to applicants worldwide, presenting an incredible opportunity for students from Afghanistan and beyond.

Short-Term Scholarships (1-Year Program)
This program benefits students currently enrolled in Turkish universities and provides a monthly stipend:
- Undergraduate: 1,400 TL
- Master’s: 2,000 TL

Research Scholarship Program
Encourages collaboration between international and Turkish researchers. Includes a monthly stipend of 12,000 TL.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet these requirements:
- Nationality: Citizens of any country other than Turkey.
- Health: Must be in good health.
- Age Limits:
- Undergraduate: Under 21 years
- Master’s: Under 30 years
- Ph.D.: Under 35 years
- Research: Under 50 years
- Academic Achievement:
- Undergraduate: At least 70% in high school.
- Master’s and Ph.D.: At least 75% in prior degrees.
- Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy: Minimum 90%, with strong performance in math, chemistry, and biology.
- Turkish High School Graduates: Eligible if not Turkish citizens.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted online. The process includes:
- Filling out personal, educational, and work-related details.
- No need to apply to universities separately; the Türkiye Bursları team will handle your admission and registration.
Required Documents
Prepare the following:
- Recent photograph (taken within the last six months).
- Passport or national ID.
- High school diploma and transcript (Shahadatnama).
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degree certificates (if applicable).
- Two or three reference letters (academic or professional).
- Research proposal for Master’s and Ph.D. applicants.
- CV, certificates, and achievements (if available).
- University entrance test (Kankor) scores (if applicable).
- Letter of Intent:
- Part 1: Describe your academic/social experiences, reasons for choosing Turkey, and how this scholarship aligns with your future plans. (3000 characters)
- Part 2: Clarify any unclear sections in your application or highlight specific points for the evaluation committee.
Evaluation and Selection Process
The applicants will be evaluated according to their academic success, social activities, and motivations.
Preliminary Assessment: All the applicants will be examined with their basic criteria, such as minimum academic achievement, age limits and required documents.
Expert evaluation: the applicants will be considered by the expert’s committees in terms of previous qualifications, academic interests, academic status, career goal, the content of the intent letter, and your activeness in social activities.
Tests: A 30-quetion quantitative test will held for undergraduate students. For Afghanistan and Sudan, 80-100 questions will be. The test questions include Mathematics, geometry, and logic questions. The test will have explanation questions in both Turkish and English. You can find the sample questions and mock test here

Interview: The successful applicants will be invited and evaluated by interview committees. The interview duration is from 15 to 30 minutes. Remember to bring all the required documents and certificates with you to the interview session.
