The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) offers scholarships to citizens of eligible developing countries with professional expertise and a history of supporting their governments’ development initiatives. Scholarships are available for individuals interested in pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Eligibility Criteria

For MPH Program:

  • At least two years of full-time post-baccalaureate experience in a health-related field or a doctorate in a relevant discipline.
  • A strong academic record, including health-related coursework.
  • GRE scores: Verbal reasoning (79%), quantitative reasoning (67%), or equivalent credentials for degree holders (e.g., MS, MD, DDS).
  • Three recommendation letters from academic or professional referees.
  • Proof of English language proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS), unless exempt.

For JJ/WBGSP Scholarship:

  • Be a citizen of a developing country list by the World Bank.
  • Not hold dual citizenship with an advanced nation.
  • Bachelor’s degree earned at least three years prior to application submission.
  • At least three years of recent, paid, development-related work experience.
  • Currently employed in development-related work.
  • Health certification and World Education Services (WES) credential evaluation.
