Job Description
Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a global program designed to help beginners get started with open-source software development. Over 12+ weeks, participants work on real coding projects under the guidance of experienced mentors from open-source organizations. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build connections, and contribute to meaningful projects.
Since its launch in 2005, GSoC has connected over 21,000 participants with 1,000+ open-source organizations, supported by 20,000+ mentors worldwide.

- Location: Online
- Application Deadline: April 8, 2025
- Who Can Apply? Open to participants worldwide, except residents of Russia, Belarus, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions.
- Project Duration: 10–22 weeks, depending on project size
- Large projects: ~350 hours
- Medium projects: ~175 hours
Program Timeline
- March 24, 2025: Applications open for GSoC contributors
- April 8, 2025: Application deadline
- May 8, 2025: Selected contributors announced
- June 2, 2025: Coding begins!
- July 18, 2025: Midterm evaluation
- September 1, 2025: Final project submission (standard projects)
- November 10, 2025: Final submission for extended projects

Who Can Apply?

🚫 Not Eligible:
- Employees of Google or participating organizations
- Past GSoC participants who have joined twice or more
- Residents of U.S.-embargoed countries
