Job Description

Are you eager to pursue a Master’s degree in Global Studies at some of the top universities in Europe and beyond? The Erasmus Mundus Master in Global Studies (EMGS) program is now accepting applications for the 2025-26 academic year.

This prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) is offered by a consortium of five leading European universities in partnership with various institutions worldwide. The program equips students with the academic foundation and practical skills needed for careers in international organizations, academic research, and roles focused on intercultural mediation, development, management, and policymaking.

With funding support from the European Commission, the program provides Erasmus Mundus scholarships for both European and non-European students. The curriculum highlights transregional interconnectedness and allows participants to study at partner universities across the globe, including institutions in Canada, Australia, the USA, South Africa, China, India, New Zealand, Ethiopia, and Cameroon.

Consortium Universities The EMGS program is jointly offered by the following European universities:

  • Leipzig University (Germany)
  • University of Vienna (Austria)
  • University of WrocÅ‚aw (Poland)
  • Roskilde University (Denmark)
  • Ghent University (Belgium)

Please note that the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), a founding member of the consortium, is no longer part of the program as of 2023.

Scholarship and Financial Aid

  1. Erasmus Mundus Scholarships (60 total):
    • Full coverage of tuition fees
    • €1,400 monthly stipend for living expenses
    • Basic medical insurance
  2. Regional Scholarships (31 total):
    • Priority for students from Least Developed Countries, including regions such as Western Balkans, Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia, Pacific and Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East
  3. Erasmus+ Grants for Self-Funded Students:
    • €500-600 per month (for up to one year)
    • Can be applied during the second year of study
  4. Special Needs Financial Support:
    • Additional funding for students with disabilities, covering expenses such as adaptive equipment or travel assistance

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Academic Requirements:
    • A Bachelor’s degree (minimum of three years) in humanities or social sciences
    • At least 15% of completed coursework related to global studies fields (e.g., history, economics, sociology, political science, cultural studies)
  2. Language Proficiency:
    • English language certification:
      • TOEFL: 80 iBT / 550 PBT / 213 CBT
      • IELTS: 6.5 (with no section below 6.5)
      • Cambridge C2 (CPE) or Cambridge C1 (CAE)
    • Knowledge of an additional foreign language at A2 level (CEFR)
  3. Mobility Requirements:
    • Study in at least two different countries (not including your home country)
    • Optional terms at non-European partner universities

  • Proof of knowledge of another foreign language (A2 level)
  • Academic Recommendation Letter
  • Proof of Work Experience or Extracurricular Activities (if applicable)

After Admission Admitted applicants must submit the following by mid-August:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • English Proficiency Test results
  • Confirmation of passed examinations (if final degree is not yet awarded)

Additional country-specific requirements may apply for students from China, Vietnam, and India.
