Job Description

International students can apply for the fully funded Central South University (CSU) Scholarship for the 2025–2026 academic year, which is available for PhD and master’s degree programs. This scholarship covers a monthly stipend, medical insurance, on-campus housing, and tuition fees.

CSU, located in China, has built long-term partnerships with over 200 academic institutions and research centers across more than 30 countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, and Russia. The university also works closely with multinational corporations through industry-university-research collaborations. It hosts international students from over 100 countries and regions.

Benefits of the Scholarship:

The Central South University Scholarship offers two types of funding:

  1. Full Scholarship:
    • Covers tuition fees, on-campus accommodation, and provides a monthly stipend.
  2. Partial Scholarship:
    • Covers tuition fees only.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • General Requirements:
    • Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, in good health, and have no criminal record.
  • For Master’s Applicants:
    • Must have a bachelor’s degree and be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • For PhD Applicants:
    • Must have a master’s degree and be between 18 and 40 years old.
  • Language Requirements:
    • For Chinese-taught programs:
      • Minimum HSK4 (260) for science/engineering programs.
      • Minimum HSK5 (200) for arts, social sciences, and medical fields.
    • For English-taught programs:
      • Minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL score of 85.
    • Language exemptions are available for native speakers or those who have prior degrees in Chinese or English.
  • Academic Requirements:
    • A strong academic record and innovative research skills are necessary.
    • Some programs may have specific requirements, which can be found in the Program Catalogue.

Documents Required:

Applicants for both master’s and Ph.D. programs must provide the following documents:

  1. Passport (valid for more than one year).
  2. Highest Graduation Certificate (if currently enrolled, a pre-graduation certificate is required).
  3. Transcript of Highest Diploma (must include notarized translations if in a language other than Chinese or English).
  4. Non-Criminal Record (issued after October 1, 2024).
  5. Physical Examination Record (including a doctor’s signature and hospital stamp, issued after October 1, 2024).
  6. Language Proficiency Transcript (HSK for Chinese programs or IELTS/TOEFL for English programs).
  7. Self-Introduction Video (1-minute video, less than 40MB; in Chinese for HSK holders).
  8. Statement of Not Receiving Any Other Scholarships (Personal Statement).
  9. Two Recommendation Letters (from professors or associate professors, issued after October 1, 2024).
  10. Study Plan (at least 1000 words, detailing research background and methodology).
  11. Acceptance Letter (if available).
  12. Published Essays, CV, or Other Supporting Materials (optional).

Application Process:

To apply, follow these steps:

  1. Online Application: Apply through the CSU International Education portal, complete the application form, and submit required documents.
  2. Initial Review and Application Fee Payment:
    • CSU will review identity, language skills, and health conditions.
    • If approved, pay the application fee of CNY 500 via WeChat, Alipay, or UnionPay within two weeks. No fee is required if not approved.
  3. Academic Review: Relevant departments will assess academic qualifications, research ability, and innovation potential.
  4. Admission Results: Results will be sent via email and through the CSU International Student Service System. Final financial support will be based on the official admission notice.

Important Notes:

  • All documents must be in English or Chinese (translations must be notarized).
  • Applicants with Chinese parents but foreign nationality must provide proof of citizenship and residency abroad for at least 2 years in the past 4 years, along with renunciation of Chinese nationality.
  • Application fees are non-refundable, and documents will not be returned.
  • International students must purchase medical insurance; those without insurance cannot register at CSU.
