What is CIMEA

CIMEA, or the Information Centre on Academic Mobility and Equivalence (Centro di Informazione sulla Mobilità e le Equivalenze Accademiche), is an Italian organization under the Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research. It helps people with foreign qualifications, like degrees or certificates, who want to study, work, or live in Italy. As part of the ENIC-NARIC network (an initiative by the EU, UNESCO, and the Council of Europe), CIMEA’s main role is to support the recognition of international qualifications and promote academic mobility.

What CIMEA Does:

  1. Recognizes Foreign Qualifications: CIMEA evaluates foreign diplomas and certifications to make sure they meet Italian standards, helping students and professionals find equivalency for their qualifications.
  2. Provides Verification Services: They issue official documents like “Statements of Comparability” and “Statements of Verification,” which help Italian schools, universities, and employers understand international qualifications.
  3. Supports Academic Mobility: CIMEA facilitates international academic mobility for students and professionals moving between countries for study or work.
  4. Works with the ENIC-NARIC Network: CIMEA collaborates with similar centers worldwide to maintain consistency in recognizing educational qualifications across different countries.
  5. Digital Credentialing: Recently, CIMEA has started using blockchain technology for secure digital credentials, making it easier for people to verify and share their qualifications globally.

Why CIMEA Matters:

For students and professionals from other countries, CIMEA plays a key role in helping their qualifications be recognized in Italy, making the transition smoother for those pursuing studies or careers.
